Erasmus Plus – study in Europe!
St.John´s College has been the holder of the Erasmus University Charter since 2014. Under the Erasmus programme, it is possible to implement mobility and cooperation in tertiary education in Europe. Within the Erasmus + programme (since 2014 a new lifelong learning program covering Erasmus, Leonardo, Commenius, Grundtvig), mobility can be implemented in the form of a study stay, or practical internships.

Who can participate?
The study mobility is open to all students enrolled in accredited full-time or part-time study, who will be enrolled for study at St.John´s College for the entire duration of the program.

Those interested in participating in the Erasmus program must submit an application to the St. John’s College Directorate.
Selection criteria:
- Knowledge of English at the B1 PLUS level verified by a written test
- Total study results exceeding the average level, ie. with the number of credits 65 per year and higher
- Elaboration of a cover letter in English or German
- Other special skills and competencies, evidenced, for example, by a participant certificate will be taken as an advantage
The selection will be made on a commission basis. Applicants will be notified of the results of the selection for participation in the Erasmus program usually by April of the respective academic year.
Where is it possible to travel?
Study mobilities can be realized in all EU countries that are involved in the Erasmus + Programme, resp. their institutions. The duration of the study stay is 3-12 months.
How does it work?
Mobility is carried out on the basis of an agreement between educational institutions prepared by the Department of International Relations. The contract is based on mutual agreement and mutual contact of the corresponding departments of the institutions. Outgoing and incoming students are supported by the Study Department, which helps them with the adjustment and approval of study obligations and final assessment. The Study Department, in cooperation with the International Relations Department, assists the student with the preparation of a training agreement. The internship plan must correspond in general to the accredited study program that the student enrolled at St.John´s College. Otherwise, fulfilled obligations and practices cannot be recognized.
Details and objectives of the program
The aim of the St. John’s College – a higher vocational school of pedagogy within the framework of international cooperation is to find partners of the same or similar educational level – institutions of tertiary education – and professional orientation. Our priority is especially fields related to preschool education and leisure pedagogy, whether they are purely pedagogical fields – pedagogy, methodology, didactics, or closely related fields – psychology, sociology, education. Due to the Christian orientation of our school, we are also very interested in partners with experience in teaching religion, integration of religious education and ethics into church and non-church schools within preschools and primary education institutions. In the leisure sphere – leisure pedagogy, education – we focus not only on preschool and younger school age, but we also focus on adult education, further education of pedagogical staff and the lifelong learning program. Our institution organizes international conferences dedicated to relevant topics, where we have the opportunity to meet potential partners.
Thanks to the language orientation of our educational program, we prefer partners from English or German-speaking countries. We are adapting to this trend both the scheme of language training of our students and the demands placed on the language skills of teachers.
We want to involve both our students and teachers in international educational activities. Especially our first and second year students. We want to motivate third-year students to include the acquired foreign experience in their diploma thesis and study internships within the last year of study at our institution. When it comes to incoming partners, we are equally open to students, teachers and practitioners. We are mainly looking for partners with experience in creating a methodology for teaching a foreign language (English and German) for preschool education in the field of formal and non-formal education. It is important for us that the partner organization has space in its educational program not only for theoretical disciplines, but especially for practical teaching, ideally directly in the natural environment of the target group – kindergarten, nursery, children’s centre, day centre, etc. Other priorities are for us experience in the field of intercultural and interreligious dialogue and coexistence. In the environment of a globalizing European community with a number of cultural and religious minorities and a supportive immigration policy, we perceive a sustainable approach to this issue at the earliest possible age as essential for successful coexistence. Within the pedagogy of leisure time, we want to establish partnerships with institutions that have years of experience in the field and involve practical elements in teaching – arts, crafts, etc.
We want to use the acquired skills and experience to improve the quality of teaching for both students and teachers. Due to the ever-increasing requirements for starting foreign language teaching at preschool age and the lack of quality methodology in the field, we prepared the accreditation of the course covering this topic and we want to use the foreign experience of our potential partners and personal experience from internships of our students and teachers. Currently the valuable cooperation with the St.Mary´s University College Belfast in the Northern Ireland is carried out and precious experience from the field of literacy is being implemented into the foreign language teaching methodology.
